Meet Our Team
Gerald A. Baruno, CPA
Mr. Baruno is a former business owner with over thirty years of public accounting experience in the practice of tax, accounting, finance and IRS audits and tax issues.
Mr. Baruno is certified to practice in Connecticut and New York State and prior to starting his own firm in 1985 held various tax management positions with large multi-national corporations and also a locate CPA firm. Upon graduating from the University of Hartford in 1971 Mr. began his tax career working for the IRS in the Manhattan office where he conducted audits of individual and business tax returns.
Jerry lives in Greenwich, Connecticut with his wife, Liz. Jerry enjoys playing tennis, hiking and spending time with his family at the beaches in CT and Martha’s Vineyard.
William R. Hannaford Jr, CPA
Bill began his professional career in public accounting over 25 years ago starting at the firm founded by his father. Bill took over management of the firm in the summer of 1999. In January of 2016, he formed Baruno, Hannaford, Heap, Aurello & Company, with his partner Shannon Heap. He specializes in individual, corporate, and fiduciary taxation and is experienced in tax matters relating to estates, gifts, trusts and not-for-profit organizations including foundations.
Bill’s objective is to provide clientele with quality tax compliance services and tax planning advice to maximize tax savings and increase personal wealth.
Bill resides with his wife and three daughters in New London, CT. Bill currently serves on the board of the New London Public Library, New London Soccer Club and Saint Joseph School. He graduated from Stetson University. He is licensed as a CPA in Connecticut and is a member of the AICPA and the CT Society of CPAs.
Frank P. Di Maria, CPA
Frank P. Di Maria, CPA, began his professional career in public accounting over 50 years ago and has worked for several Fortune 500 companies during that time. He specializes in individual, corporate, and fiduciary taxation and is experienced in tax matters relating to estates, gifts, trusts and not-for-profit organizations including foundations.
Frank’s objective is to provide clientele with quality tax compliance services and tax planning advice so as to maximize tax savings and increase personal wealth.
Frank resides with his wife in Trumbull, CT. He graduated from Baruch College with a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Taxation. He is licensed as a CPA in New York, and is a member of the AICPA, the NYS Society of CPA’s and the CT Society of CPA’s.
Shannon Heap, CPA, MSA
Shannon has over 30 years of public and industry accounting experience and concentrates most of his current efforts on tax and accounting issues related to closely held businesses, individuals and trusts and estates. He graduated from Nichols College with a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and recently completed his MSA from the University of Connecticut.
In addition to working in the accounting field, Shannon is proud to have taught accounting to cadets at the United States Coast Guard Academy for two years. While teaching at the academy he was also lucky enough to be asked to be an assistant coach for the men’s rugby team, where he still volunteers his time coaching the game that he loves.
Shannon is licensed as a CPA by the state of Connecticut and is a member of the AICPA as well as the Connecticut Society of CPAs.
John F. Aurello, CPA
John began accounting career over 40 years ago. Always worked for CPA firms before starting Solo-Practice in 1989. John worked as Sole Proprietorship for 20 years. John has expertise in Tax Compliance, Tax Planning, Accounting, Finance and dealing with IRS + all other Government Agencies. John is certified to practice in Connecticut. John is a UCONN Alumni and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree with a major in Accounting. John lives in North Stamford with spouse Patti, daughter Breanne and son Kyle. John enjoys exercise, biking, walking, tennis & sports plus has great pleasure at the shore with family.
